Short Bio
Robin Brzobohatý holds a Ph.D. in Theory of Law from the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University in Brno. He is also a graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy of Palacký University in Olomouc, majoring in sociology and andragogy, and of the Cyril and Methodius Theological Faculty and CARITAS College of Social Work. In the past, he worked as the head of the mediation program at the Office for International Legal Protection of Children in Brno, where he was responsible for conducting cross-border family mediations in child abduction cases. With more than 4,000 mediated cases, he is one of the most experienced mediators in the country. He is also a certified mediator with ISCT in the USA.
In 2011 Robin co-founded the Olomouc Mediation Center, where he still works as a senior family mediator. He also works as a deputy and mediator at the Mediation and Education Center in Brno.
Robin serves as an examining commissioner of the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic for the mediator exam under Act 202/2012 Coll. on Mediation. He is the Czech contact person for communication with the European Parliament mediator for international child abduction by parents.
As a lecturer, he frequently works both domestically (e.g., for the Czech Judicial Academy) and abroad, where he has previously conducted mediation training for the Danish Bar Association in Copenhagen or the Russian League of Mediators in St. Petersburg. In 2018, as part of his internship at Temple University in Philadelphia (USA), he taught a course on Third-Party Conflict Intervention together with Prof. Joseph P. Folger. Between 2014 and 2017, he was a lecturer in mediation in a joint program of Humboldt University Berlin and Tulane Law School, New Orleans. Since 2010, he has been an expert guarantor of the Family Mediation Section at the European Institute for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration. He teaches mediation at the Law Faculties of Charles University in Prague and Masaryk University in Brno.
He is dedicated to developing interdisciplinary cooperation in working with families, child-inclusive mediation, and the theory and ethics of mediation. He is the author of many professional articles and publications, including the reader-appreciated publication The Mediator's Handbook, or What You Need to Know Not Only for the Mediator's Exam (Wolters Kluwer ČR).
